FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: 23rd APRIL 2025
[United Kingdom] — The Bookhouse Institute is bringing the magic of treasure hunting back to life — one puzzle at a time.
The Bookhouse Institute blends immersive storytelling, handcrafted artwork, and real-world mystery into a series of uniquely designed books and objects. Each release contains a layered puzzle trail that, when solved, leads to real treasure hidden somewhere in the UK.
“We want to bring wonder back into the world,” says DJ Bookhouse, the founder of the Bookhouse Institute. “Not just through stories, but through secrets you can solve and actually go out and discover.”
Inspired by classic armchair treasure hunts like Masquerade by Kit Williams, and drawing on the anarchic tricksters of The KLF, The Bookhouse Institute aims to reconnect people with the landscape around them, and with each other, through collaborative problem-solving and creative exploration.
Each treasure is a unique, handcrafted object, created in partnership with local artisans and hidden in real locations. Participants follow riddles, artwork, and codes to narrow down the site. Once a treasure is found, it is claimed by the first one who finds it.
What’s Next for The Bookhouse Institute?
Following the launch of its first book The Bookhouse Institute has plans to:
– Releasing additional treasure hunts hidden in books, each tied to a new theme and each with unique prizes
– Collaborate with artists, writers, and craftspeople to expand its prize offering
– Start organising a small Archive of all Bookhouses Institute editions, prizes and ephemera
Their first treasure hunt will be dropping when it’s ready. Sign up to get notified when.
