Subject: The Grimpen Affair: Observed Atmospheric Events and Missing Persons
—————
Summary:
Field correspondents have been notified of a missing landowner ██████ ██████, who owns farmland east of Grimpen village (Grid Ref. TF 349 012). This was reported on 24 March 1974 by local agricultural personnel, who claimed the “mist rose up and took ’em”.
Multiple other witnesses observed a **pallid mist** rising from the fenland at approximately 03:10 local time. The phenomenon reportedly advanced inland before dissipating abruptly at the village boundary. No corresponding meteorological data has been logged. Livestock exhibited agitation during the event; the publican ██ █████ ██████ described the mist as “quiet and curious”
—————
Actions to be taken:
(1) Site to be examined under the supervision of the Holloway Desk with support from the County Constabulary.
(2) A preliminary field report (HWD/GRIM/74/3) to be completed by Investigator █████ ██████.
(3) Soil, fabric, and air samples to be collected for departmental analysis (see: Laboratory Schedule).
(4) Press inquiries are to be deferred pending Ministerial clearance.
—————
Observations:
— Village is quite isolated, difficult to get to and some resistance is expected.
— Unusual olfactory signature (“ozone and silt”) recorded by several witnesses.
— Subsequent low-lying vapour observed on 25 March at 05:42 hrs; photographic evidence included.

Recommendation:
In light of increased public curiosity and to pre-empt speculative reporting, the Holloway Desk will prepare and issue **The Grimpen Affair** — a controlled public engagement dossier ** Role Playing Game** detailing potential explorations of the Grimpen findings, and analytical exercises designed to encourage constructive collaborative storytelling participation from qualified correspondents.
The packet containing **The Grimpen Affair** will be made available **free of charge** to verified registrants of the Department’s authorised mailing list. Distribution will be limited, and the packet **will be issued upon completion**.
This packet **The Grimpen Affair** also hides a series of cryptic puzzles and a treasure hunt that participants can attempt to solve. The first successful participant in the analytical exercises may, upon verification and provision of solution to the Bookhouse Institute, be considered for receipt of the **sole archival copy of _The Holloway Reports_**, an extended investigative compendium pertaining to these and related incidents. This compendium is a **full set of core rules to run your own Holloway Reports role-playing games**. All licensing pertaining to this archival copy will belong to the successful participant, to do with what they will.
